Position: Center for Precision Environmental Health  (Instructor)

Summary

The Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated junior faculty member at the rank of Instructor (non‑tenure track). Baylor College of Medicine is located within the Texas Medical Center in Houston, a premier research and clinical environment.

The successful candidate will join the laboratory of Dr. John Quackenbush, whose research focuses on the analysis of human cancer using systems biology approaches to understand and model the biological networks underlying disease. This work has led to fundamental discoveries regarding the role of gene expression variation in defining biological phenotypes.

This position will conduct complex and independent research investigations and will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of experiments related to normal genetic function and disease‑associated dysfunction. The individual will analyze and report experimental data; create and maintain accurate, timely records of experimental results and protocol designs; and contribute to the publication of research findings.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, well organized, able to manage time effectively, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.

Job Duties
  • Follow overall research objectives and established protocols to design, set up, conduct, and troubleshoot experiments
  • Evaluate experimental protocols and data, and recommend modifications to improve the quality, rigor, and validity of results
  • Prepare and conduct laboratory research experiments
  • Prepare and seek external grant funding to support research projects
  • Write and submit manuscripts for publication in peer‑reviewed journals
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD required
