About Houston

Exxon Mobil's state‑of‑the‑art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team
  • We are seeking a candidate to join a research team investigating global change questions using models of coupled human‑natural systems at various scales.
  • The successful candidate must have a strong background and demonstrated scientific excellence, including a record of external publication, in one or more areas of climate science.
  • Experience developing and using earth system, energy system or integrated assessment models, as well as familiarity with how such approaches can be used to inform business or policy questions, is necessary.
  • A PhD in geoscience, engineering, economics or a related discipline is required.
  • Postdoctoral experience in an academic, industry, or government setting is highly desired.
  • The position is located at the Exxon Mobil Houston Main Campus in Spring, Texas.
What you will do
  • Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to develop and execute research
  • Develop new models or apply state‑of‑the‑art approaches as necessary to carry out novel research
  • Communicate research results and implications to relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Advise the corporation on relevant scientific and technical matters
  • Identify opportunities to engage leading external researchers and groups
  • Publish results in peer‑reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences
  • Engage with the broader research community to share findings, monitor external trends and communicate priorities
About you

Skills and Qualifications

  • PhD in geoscience, engineering, economics or related disciplines
  • Knowledge of state‑of‑the‑art models and approaches in one or more areas related to climate and integrated systems
  • Ability to identify and engage leading external experts on global change research
