A research intern position is available in the Department of Interventional Radiology to perform research on novel technologies in the field of interventional oncology procedures. The laboratory has a strong focus on translational and clinical research in image-guided loco-regional treatments such as thermal ablation for hepatic malignancies.

The intern will be involved in the development and evaluation of novel image-processing techniques and image-based markers to improve image-guided loco-regional treatments including pre-procedure evaluation, intra-procedure guidance and decision making, and post-procedure follow-up.

All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The intern will conduct research in the area of minimally invasive treatments, primarily thermal ablation, for primary and secondary malignant liver tumors. Intern's research will include novel devices, artificial intelligence, and the development and validation of novel bio markers and treatment endpoints. Trainee will be heavily involved in statistical analyses of data collected about such technologies. Trainee's analyses will include the identification of optimal treatment endpoints, estimation of diagnostic and prognostic performance of AI tools, and graphical presentation of such analysis.

Intern will further observe procedures to gain a better understanding of the clinical context surrounding Intern's analyses.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The applicant should hold a Master of Science in Biostatistics, Data Science or similar field. Previous experience in cancer related research are advantageous.
