The Health Disparities Research Department aims to reduce and ultimately eliminate disparities in cancer incidence, morbidity and mortality and cancer-related behavior through research and education addressing the determinants of disparities as well as interventions and policies designed to eliminate disparities.

The primary purpose of the Research Data Coordinator is to perform specific activities in support of cancer research projects and studies. Coordinates activities for the implementation of research studies, including the preparation of study materials, data collection, and participant recruitment. Performs general studies related to the maintenance of research studies that require judgement and initiative. Provides administrative and patient care services for the coordination of research studies.

The ideal candidate for the Research Data Coordinator position will have a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least two years of related experience, or a Bachelor's degree with no prior experience required. Preferred qualifications include experience recruiting and consenting human research participants and familiarity with Epic and REDCap systems, along with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage confidential research data in a clinical research environment.

This position is classified as full-time with a salary range of Minimum $21.15 - Midpoint $26.44 - Maximum $31.73 per hour, based on a 40-hour work week.

The typical work schedule is onsite with occasional evenings and weekends as needed based on business needs.

The work location is the Texas Medical Center.

* Responsibilities
* - Assist PI and other staff in research including but not limited to: coordinating and conducting all aspects of recruitment under the direction of investigators, including phone and mail contact, registration, communicating study objectives and procedures to prospective and enrolled study participants, scheduling of study participants, and administering informed consent.

- Organize and prepare for study materials and assist with preparation of presentations and materials.

- Follow study protocol procedures, providing input as appropriate for changes, updates and revisions to survey instruments and data collection procedures.

- Identify and report needed protocol and procedural changes, coordinating the ongoing implementation of the research protocol, and defining recruitment and retention strategies.

- Assists in the formatting of research protocols, implementation of questionnaires, and screening assessments.

- Track and maintain records of recruitment and participation.

- Maintain confidential study files and records in an organized and secured manner, including participant contact information, consent forms, data code sheets, and other relevant materials.

- Must be able to compare database and file material on an ongoing basis. Must be able to build and/or maintain simple Excel spreadsheets.

- Occasional evening and weekend hours.

- Occasional travels to visit community organizations/events in Houston/Houston Metropolitan areas to impart the study and recruit study participants.
