Description

This position is 100% on‑site at the University of Houston
- Main Campus. The department will hire for a Student Success Analyst I or II depending on the candidate’s education and experience.

Responsibilities

Design, plan, and conduct institutional research to support strategic decision‑making of senior administration and advance university goals through careful design and implementation of studies answering empirical policy and planning questions. Apply advanced knowledge of design in conducting complex institutional research studies in the Department of Institutional Research. Use research methodology and analysis, including problem definition, study design, data collection, and analysis.

Compile and analyze data for strategic planning and program development.

Assemble data sets from multiple institutional sources.

Design models and conduct statistical and other quantitative data analysis.

Prepare descriptive and inferential statistics and analyses.

Consult and provide guidance on design, data collection, and reporting of research studies.

Design, develop, and implement new survey research.

Coordinate with faculty and researchers on special reports, projects, and analyses as requested.

Participate in focus groups and team projects.

Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

This position serves on the Student Success Research and Analysis team, supporting data‑driven decision making in Undergraduate Student Success and Enrollment Services. The candidate should have experience in social science research and the skills to create sophisticated dashboards.

The position will focus on the following competencies:

Querying data from institutional databases and merging large datasets.
Managing data in Excel or another data‑management software.
Generating descriptive and inferential statistical analyses and creating summary reports.
Visualizing data in reports and interactive dashboards.

Qualifications

Experience in higher education.

Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education student success and/or strategic enrollment management.
Experience creating and maintaining dashboards in Tableau or Power BI.
Experience writing queries in People Soft (an Oracle database) or a similar database.
Experience in predictive analytics modeling.
Experience in forecasting (e.g., enrollment, retention, graduation).
Experience with statistical analysis software and/or data visualization software.

Job Levels

Student Success Analyst I – Bachelor’s Degree & 3 years of experience. Minimum $49,400 – $56,200.
Student Success Analyst II – Bachelor’s Degree & 5 years of experience. Minimum $56,800 – $64,600.
