Overview
The Children's Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine is one of six USDA human nutrition research centers conducting scientific investigations designed to provide Americans with a clear understanding of the role of nutrition in maintaining a healthy, active life. As the first federal nutrition research center to investigate the nutritional needs of pregnant and nursing women and children from conception through adolescence, the CNRC conducts research that helps define guidelines for maternal, infant and childhood nutrition.
Baylor College of Medicine typically follows NIH stipulated stipend guidelines for Postdoctoral Associates.
- Understands and frames research questions, research design and methods, and project implementation.
- Learns and becomes experts at research techniques involved in projects and, when appropriate, develops and establishes methods of research, testing, data collection, analysis, evaluation, and writing reports containing descriptive, analytical and evaluative content.
- Exercises independent discretion and judgment in carrying out research activities within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conducting experiments in the field of Nutrition Science.
- Collects and analyzes data, including periodical literature search, and utilizes specialized skills in related fields to analyze the collected data.
- Demonstrates proficiency in scientific manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals, grant writing, poster and oral presentations.
- Attends conferences and seminars.
- Mentors research training in laboratory specific research methods.
- Works on courses, seminars, and lectures that integrate the study of research methods and processes.
- Creates statistical programs for data manipulation and application of advanced statistical methodology.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
- Experience in research study design and project implementation.
- Strong publication record.
