Your Role

The Chemical Engineering Intern will work closely with a research scientist and spectroscopist to support analytical testing and research activities, with a focus on FTIR and GC measurements. This role offers hands‑on experience in laboratory methods, data collection, and interpretation while contributing to ongoing research and product development efforts. The intern will gain practical exposure to analytical instrumentation and learn how test results support technical evaluation, method development, and problem‑solving.

Tasks
  • Assist a research scientist and spectroscopist with laboratory testing and analytical activities related to ongoing research and development projects.
  • Support FTIR and gas chromatography (GC) measurements, including sample preparation, instrument setup, test execution, and data collection.
  • Help analyze, organize, and document test results for review by the technical team.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, test logs, and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify trends, inconsistencies, or anomalies in analytical results.
  • Assist with troubleshooting routine test issues and preparing summaries of findings.

    Support development and improvement of laboratory methods, workflows, or reporting processes as needed.
  • Prepare progress updates and communicate results to the research team.
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • High school senior, technical school student, or college student pursuing chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, or a related technical field.
  • Coursework or lab experience in analytical chemistry, chemical engineering lab methods, spectroscopy, or chromatography preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Interest in laboratory testing, analytical instrumentation, and experimental research.
  • Familiarity with FTIR, gas chromatography, or other analytical techniques is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow laboratory procedures and technical instructions.
  • Basic analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

    Ability to record, summarize, and communicate technical data clearly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
