Senior Research Analyst – Research DivisionThe Senior Research Analyst supports the Partnership’s mission by sourcing, managing, and analyzing economic, demographic, and social data, writing research products, and leading projects.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Devise and evaluate innovative methods and procedures for data collection, management, and analysis.
- Access economic, demographic, and social data from public and proprietary sources.
- Organize and analyze data to conduct regular reporting and answer key research questions.
- Manage data files and databases for collaborative use with Research Team members.
- Use data management, analysis, and visualization tools to derive insights.
- Collect and analyze survey data from members, board members, and key stakeholders.
- Work with research team members to develop and utilize AI‑assisted research tools and workflows.
- Contribute to and publish regular reports such as Key Economic Indicators, Houston at a Glance, Global Houston, Houston Facts, and Houston Regional Economic Outlook.
- Develop research products translating complex analysis into actionable insights, including background papers, cost‑of‑living index, company and trade profiles, fiscal and economic impact studies, and membership reports.
- Create charts, tables, and graphs for publications using analysis and visualization tools.
- Collaborate with and support other teams on research, data analysis, visualization, and interpretation to fulfill strategic goals.
- Participate in internal meetings with other departments such as Economic Development, Membership, Marketing/Communications, and Public Policy.
- Lead research or cross‑functional project teams as needed.
- Serve as subject matter expert in areas relevant to the Partnership’s policy agenda.
- Represent the organization at community and business meetings.
- Give research presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Proficiency in Excel and data analytics.
- Experience in analytical research, market analysis, and report writing.
- Familiarity with local business, community, or policy issues such as workforce trends and regional demographics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to explain complex information to non‑technical audiences.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
- Self‑motivated with a positive, can‑do attitude and openness to new technologies including AI.
- Team player with the ability to multitask and collaborate across functions.
- Project management experience and ability to work with people at all levels.
- Flexibility to work some overtime as necessary.
- Proficiency in additional data analysis or statistical platforms such as Python, R, SAS, or Stata.
- Experience with data visualization and analysis platforms such as Tableau, R Shiny, ArcGIS, Power BI, or Data wrapper.
- Experience in database management.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRMs.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, social science with research focus (economics, sociology, psychology, policy studies, public health, or health policy) required; graduate degree preferred.
- 5+ years of professional experience with increasing responsibilities in social science, business research, data analysis, marketing, or policy research; leadership experience preferred.
- Good vision and hearing acuity.
- Manual dexterity and skillful use of computer keyboard.
- Ability to bend, push, stand, walk, and lift approximately 25 pounds on occasion.
- Analytical, conceptual, problem‑solving, planning, and decision‑making skills required.
- Adherence to office safety policies and procedures.
