Job Overview
The Translational Molecular Pathology (TMP) department at MD Anderson Cancer Center conducts cutting‑edge translational cancer research focused on innate immune signaling and the cellular response to DNA damage during chemotherapy.
As a Research Assistant II, you will contribute to experimental design, laboratory work, data management, and scientific communication in a collaborative environment that includes scientists, physicians, and external investigators.
Responsibilities- Design and perform research experiments under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.
- Develop detailed experimental plans and procedures.
- Manage multiple research projects concurrently with independent initiative.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and research instruments.
- Collect, analyze, and compile research data for publication, grant submissions, and protocol development.
- Prepare graphs, figures, presentations, and reports using software such as Graph Pad Prism and Microsoft Office.
- Assist with grant applications, scientific manuscripts, and presentations at meetings and conferences.
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and database records, including quality‑control documentation.
- Train students and research personnel on laboratory techniques and equipment usage.
- Collaborate on projects both within and outside MD Anderson, sharing expertise and new methodologies.
- Strong critical‑thinking and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn continuously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and scientific software such as Graph Pad Prism.
- Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in a basic science discipline. - Preferred:
Master’s or PhD in basic science, or a Medical Degree. - Required:
1 year of scientific or experimental research experience.
