Program Overview

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly‑talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or a NASA‑affiliated research institute. These one‑to‑three‑year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct multi‑element isotopic analysis of presolar grains using the NanoSIMS 50L instrument.
  • Interpret data within the context of astrophysical models.
  • Coordinate NanoSIMS analyses with focused ion beam (FIB)–assisted transmission electron microscope (TEM) mineral analyses of presolar grains.
  • Utilize additional instrumentation in the Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science (ARES) division, including scanning electron microscopes, electron microprobe, Raman microprobe, X‑ray computed tomography (CT) scanner, and various spectrometers.
  • Prepare and present research findings in scientific publications and conferences.
