Pediatrics - Neurology Nri (Instructor)

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative gene editing scientist to join a multidisciplinary team focused on developing cutting-edge human models of disease and advancing translational applications in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. The successful candidate will lead and execute genome engineering strategies across a range of platforms, including human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), 2D human brain models, and organoids.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to transformative discoveries at the intersection of gene editing and human disease modeling.

Job duties include:

  • Design, develop, and optimize genome editing strategies using CRISPR/Cas systems (e.g., CRISPR-Cas9, base editing, prime editing)
  • Generate and validate genetically modified cell lines, including iPSCs and differentiated neural cell types
  • Perform clonal selection, screening, and molecular validation (PCR, sequencing, off-target analysis)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (genetics, bioinformatics, cell biology, electrophysiology) to integrate multi-omics and functional data
  • Maintain detailed experimental records and contribute to publications, grant applications, and presentations
  • Stay current with emerging genome editing technologies and implement innovative approaches
  • Ensure compliance with institutional biosafety and regulatory guidelines

Minimum qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, neuroscience, bioengineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in genome editing, particularly CRISPR-based approaches
  • Demonstrated expertise in mammalian cell culture, including stem cells (iPSCs preferred)
  • Experience with cloning, vector design, and delivery systems (viral and non-viral)
  • Strong background in molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, NGS, Western blotting)
  • Experience with clonal isolation and validation of edited lines
  • Ability to design experiments independently and troubleshoot complex protocols
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with advanced genome editing technologies (base editing, prime editing, epigenome editing)
  • Familiarity with iPSC-derived models including organoid systems or 3D cell culture models
  • Experience working with neurological or developmental disease models
  • Knowledge of off-target analysis and genome-wide screening approaches
  • Experience with automation/robotics platforms for cell engineering workflows
  • Bioinformatics skills related to sequence analysis
