Summary

The Staff Scientist position will be responsible to design and execute laboratory experiments aiming at understanding how the epigenetic regulator CHAF1A drives undifferentiated, chemo-refractory, and metabolically distinct neuroblastoma tumors. Specifically, the Staff Scientist will use a combination of various cell and molecular biology approaches (including CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, ChIP-seq, Co-IP, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, metabolic and differentiation assays), as well as tumors models and neural crest models to elucidate the epigenetic changes during neuroblastoma initiation and progression.

Will also be responsible to prepare manuscripts for publication, mentor junior lab members, and apply for fellowship awards. This position will investigate key oncogenic and metabolic functions in neuroblastoma oncogene sis in the Barbieri lab. The results derived from these studies will be presented at national/international conferences and will serve as preliminary data for future grant applications.

Job Duties

  • Plan, execute and analyze laboratory bench studies that directly answer the above research questions.
  • Collect, record, and analyze data.
  • Actively communicate with collaborators for data analysis.
  • Conduct literature searches to identify critical gap of knowledge.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication.
  • Present data at national/international meetings.
  • Collaborate with other members of the lab and contribute to their project.
  • Apply for external fellowships.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Three years of post doctoral research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cancer biology, epigenetics, cell and molecular biology, and mouse models of cancer
  • Experience with cancer cell metabolism
  • Good communication skills (both oral and written)
