Our client is seeking a Director of Audience & Evaluation to lead audience research and evaluation efforts that shape visitor experiences, educational programs, and organizational strategy. This role will serve as the internal expert on audience insights, using research and data to inform decision-making across the organization while leading a small evaluation team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the organization's audience research and evaluation strategy.
  • Oversee all phases of evaluation, including front-end, formative, process, prototype, and summative studies.
  • Design research plans, surveys, and evaluation tools to measure audience engagement and program effectiveness.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and presentations that support data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on exhibits, educational programs, guest experience, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support grant-funded projects through evaluation planning and reporting.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Audience & Evaluation team.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the visitor experience.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Anthropology, Statistics, Museum Studies, UX, Education, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in audience research, evaluation, visitor insights, or related research.
  • Strong experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Proven ability to manage research projects from planning through reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience leading teams and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Preferred
  • Experience with SPSS, R, SAS, or similar statistical software.
  • Data visualization and workshop facilitation experience.
  • Background in museums, cultural institutions, nonprofits, education, or other mission-driven organizations.
