Postdoctoral Associate

A Postdoctoral Associate position in cancer immunology and immunotherapy is available at the Center for Advanced Innate Cell Therapy within the Texas Children's Cancer Center. The project aims to develop and test novel CAR-redirected immunotherapy for pediatric solid tumors. In particular, gene knockout and knock-in screens will be applied to discover and therapeutically target novel regulators of the immune effector cell antitumor activity.

The lab offers outstanding state-of-the-art, recently expanded laboratory facilities and a highly interactive environment for basic, translational, and clinical investigators. Postdoctoral Associate must have a recent PhD degree and an expertise in molecular biology and tumor immunology with a documented record of productivity. Baylor College of Medicine typically follows similar to the NIH stipulated stipend guidelines for Postdoctoral Associates.

Job Duties:

  • Designs and conducts the experiments related to the project with the help of the mentor and other team members.
  • Analyzes the data and present the evolving results at weekly laboratory meetings and research seminars.
  • Records the details of the experiments in an electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Writes technical reports and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in immunology, genetic engineering, or related fields.
  • Great fund of knowledge of tumor immunology principles.
  • Ability to assess scRNAseq datasets and highly parametric flow cytometry.
  • Understanding and practicing genetic engineering techniques (transfection, retroviral / lentiviral transduction, transposition, CRISPR-Cas9).
  • Viral particle assembly.
  • Excellent aseptic cell culture technique.
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn in a fast-pace, collaborative environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, record keeping, and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
