The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine is now accepting applications for its Postdoctoral Associate position in the Center for Preclinical Surgical and Interventional Research lab.
The Center for Preclinical Surgical & Interventional Research was established in 1972 to advance the understanding and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The uniquely qualified staff of physicians and researchers have unequaled clinical experience and have collaborated with government agencies and biomedical companies over the course of its 47-year history to conceive, design, test and apply new treatments, techniques and devices to improve patient care.
Researchers in these laboratories have extensive experience in mechanical circulatory support devices. In fact, this Texas Heart Institute research department has been involved in the development of nearly every device in use today, including mechanical assist devices, ventricular assist devices (VAD), left ventricular assist devices (LVAD), total artificial hearts (TAH) and simple heart pumps.
This Postdoctoral Associate will gain comprehensive, hands‑on experience in clinical and outcomes research in heart surgery, interventional cardiology, mechanical device development and testing, working closely with leading experts in Cardiology, Cardiovascular Surgery, and veterinary medicine. Under faculty mentorship, the incumbent actively participates in all aspects of research, including study design, database development, data collection and multivariate analysis, regulatory compliance, and manuscript and abstract preparation.
- Plans, designs, and conducts research studies.
- Writes research protocols, animal use protocols, and GLP SOPs
- Designs, constructs, and maintains research databases.
- Ensures accurate and efficient data management for ongoing studies.
- Collects, cleans, and analyzes research data.
Performs multivariate biostatistical analysis to support study outcomes. - Participates in didactic continuing education.
- Writes manuscripts and abstracts.
- Prepares research findings for submission to high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
- Prepares and presents research findings.
- Participates in departmental and institutional seminars, grand rounds, and research team discussions.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
- Strong clinical research interest in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.
- Experience in clinical outcomes research.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and commitments simultaneously.
- Ability to prioritize task completion to meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and proficient in written/oral communication.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
