Research Technician II

The Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) has an immediate opening for a Research Tech II in Dr. Pavan Reddy's lab. The Research Technician II will provide technical and operational support for a biomedical research laboratory focused on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying graft-vs-host disease following bone marrow transplantation.

Job Duties:

  • Assist with the breeding, maintenance, and genotyping of transgenic mouse colonies.
  • Coordinates with researchers on mouse colony maintenance and support animal colony management.
  • Assist with rodent specific procedures such as gavage, stool collection, mouse treatments, tail vein injections, and tissue collection in accordance with approved IACUC protocol.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and up to date records of breeding, genotyping, and colony management using Transnetyx Colony software, laboratory notebooks, and laboratory spreadsheets.
  • Learn and perform additional research techniques including bone marrow isolation, T cell isolation, flow cytometry, and sterile cell culture to support ongoing GVHD research projects.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement. No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be comfortable working with laboratory animals and willing to perform euthanasia when needed.
  • Candidates should be well versed with PCR and Western blotting techniques.
  • Candidates must be familiar with the Jaggaer ordering system and Transnetyx Colony software.
