Summary

We are seeking self-motivated individual to work in a laboratory at the Jan and Dan Duncan NRI focused on the underlying genetics and neural circuit mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s Disease (PD). The candidate will assist in comprehensive experimentation to evaluate olfactory circuits, and how they become altered in a mouse model of PD.

Job Duties
  • Candidate will assist in molecular biology techniques to evaluate neuropathology, evaluate behavioral alterations, and process tissues at different stages of neurodegeneration.
  • Candidate will be trained to maintain mouse colonies, including genotyping mouse models via PCR, evaluate mouse behavior, setting up breeding cages.
  • Will collect, compile, and analyze data along with the graduate student the candidate will be assisting
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular experiment.
  • Document results of experiments in lab notebook, and regularly report results to the lab group.
  • Select, evaluate, and apply appropriate experimental techniques used in routine research.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.
