Description

Possesses, understands, and applies a comprehensive knowledge inarea of specialization. Develops understanding and skills to allowfor completion of assignments that cross fields of specialization.

Develops leadership and management skills.

  • Receives/Reviews progress and evaluates results of experimentsor projects under control or supervisory responsibility.
  • Recommends changes in research, testing or experimental procedures.
  • May be responsible for a single highly technical and complex piece of research equipment. 4. May review and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel.
  • May plan for and assign personnel to projects under control.
  • Operates with latitude for unreviewed action.
  • May receive general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.
  • The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Houston is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher toconduct research on homogenization and asymptotic analysis of compliant thin shells.

    Responsibilities include
    • Perform rigorous analytical research in homogenization and asymptotic methods applied to compliant thin-shell structures.
    • Supervise and support research assistants conducting numerical simulations, fabrication, and experimental characterization.
    • Prepare abstracts, journal papers, and research proposals to disseminate findings and support funding efforts.
    • Contribute broadly to the research and collaborative activities of the group.
    Qualifications

    Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in mechanics, applied mathematics,or a related field, with a strong background in homogenization and asymptotic analysis in solid mechanics. Candidates should be comfortable with numerical methods and scientific coding. Knowledge of shell theory is a plus.

    MQ:
    Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in arecognized field of specialization that is directly related to thetype of work being performed. No experience is required.
