Director - Rehabilitation Research, SCI Division
Are you a nationally recognized rehabilitation researcher ready to shape the research strategy, scientific direction, and future of spinal cord injury rehabilitation?
We’re seeking a senior research leader to direct a comprehensive rehabilitation research program within a leading specialty rehabilitation environment. This role combines scientific leadership, research portfolio management, federal grant development, investigator mentorship, and executive-level strategy
-with the opportunity to maintain an active research program of your own.
- Lead the strategic direction of a major rehabilitation research enterprise
- Shape research initiatives focused on spinal cord injury and clinical/translational rehabilitation science
- Drive federal funding strategy and major grant development
- Build high-impact collaborations with physicians, clinicians, academic institutions, and national research organizations
- Strengthen research visibility through peer-reviewed publications, scientific partnerships, and investigator development
- Establish and execute short- and long-term research strategy and scientific priorities
- Oversee a portfolio of rehabilitation and spinal cord injury research programs while maintaining an active research program
- Lead and mentor investigators, research staff, and emerging research leaders
- Develop major research initiatives and identify funding opportunities, particularly federal research funding
- Guide research design, data analysis, scientific dissemination, and publication efforts
This is more than a research administration position. It is an opportunity for an established investigator and research leader to define scientific priorities, develop the next generation of investigators, expand national partnerships, and translate research into improved rehabilitation outcomes
.
Professionals with a strong national reputation, significant federal funding history, substantial peer-reviewed publication record, and experience leading complex research programs will be particularly well positioned for this opportunity.
What We’re Looking For:- MD or PhD from an accredited institution
- Strong national reputation in medical rehabilitation research
- 7+ years of administrative/research leadership experience as a Program Director, Department Head, Principal Investigator, or comparable role
- Demonstrated success obtaining federal research funding
- Expertise in research design, data analysis, and scientific publication
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 20%
