Position Summary

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences while maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, and presentation. This role plays a key part in supporting the overall health, satisfaction, and well-being of residents through quality meal service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
  • Ensure all meals are prepared on schedule and served at proper temperatures.
  • Follow portion control and presentation standards to ensure consistency and minimize waste.
  • Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food supplies, ensuring proper rotation and inventory control.
  • Communicate with dietary staff and leadership regarding resident needs, menu changes, or special requests.
  • Support compliance with state, local, and facility regulations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in food preparation, preferably in a healthcare, senior living, or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation standards (Serv Safe certification a plus).
  • Ability to follow recipes and diet orders accurately.
  • Strong teamwork, time management, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a warm kitchen environment and handle kitchen equipment safely.
