Job Description
As ambassadors of the Meow Wolf multiverse, our Cooks champion weirdness, radical inclusion, and the power of creativity to change the world. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, the Cook promotes a continuation of the Meow Wolf experience that transports guests through our menu of experiential culinary offerings. Our cooks prepare a variety of menu items, interact with Food & Beverage Team Members, and assess guest needs and preferences to make menu recommendations.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook food items according to standardized recipes and menu specifications.
- Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures to ensure food quality and safety.
- Adhere to portion control guidelines and presentation standards.
- Collaborate with kitchen team members to coordinate food preparation and order execution.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, including washing dishes and equipment.
- Assist in food inventory management as needed.
- Comply with all food and beverage regulations.
- Deliver a memorable guest experience through exceptional customer service.
- Restock and replenish kitchen inventory and supplies.
- Remain knowledgeable on menu offerings, ingredients and potential allergens.
- Report emergencies to the manager.
- Respond to injuries and emergencies appropriately.
- Collaborate with other team members to create and maintain a pleasant environment.
- Communicate with others to exchange information.
- Follow and enforce safety rules.
- Maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Proven experience working as a cook/prep cook.
- Possess a food handler card from an accredited training course, preferably Serv Safe.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and teamwork-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong service skills and welcoming demeanor required.
- Bilingual preferred, especially but not limited to English and Spanish.
Physical Demands
- Moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
- Remaining in a standing position for prolonged periods.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Positioning, lifting, or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
