Bartender, Part-Time

Job Summary

The Bartender offers, prepares, and serves beverages and food to members and guests. The bartender will greet members, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and provide an exceptional dining experience. The bartender must be knowledgeable in mixology and service, have a positive and engaging personality, and maintain a professional appearance and performance. This role is critical to maintaining the luxury standard and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while upholding the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.

• Greets and welcomes members and guests.
• Reads and listens to determine beverage preferences, makes recommendations, and takes drink orders.
• Informs members about new beverage additions and specials.
• Selects and mixes ingredients, garnishes glasses, and serves beverages under standard recipes.
• Follows the state of Texas laws regarding guidelines and requirements for serving alcohol.
• Takes inventory and orders supplies to ensure the bar is well stocked.
• Adheres to proper alcohol handling, sanitation, and safety procedures. Maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all beverage items.
• Develops new cocktail recipes.
• Processes orders, payments, and charges correctly.
• Passionate about hospitality, food, and having menu knowledge. Must be able to describe all menu items and assist patrons with a great dining experience.
• Can identify food allergies and make proper recommendations.
• Can recommend food pairings with wine.
• Wears assigned uniforms. Must be clean, pressed, with their own name tag.
• Responsible for preparing a closing shift report and completing related duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
