Restaurant Cook - Entry Level

Thompson Houston is now recruiting for Cook 1 – entry level. Join our hotel team as we launch a new destination restaurant concept within Thompson Houston Hotel. This position is available to start immediately and will be a part of a new restaurant relaunch this summer. The 3‑meal dining venue includes an expanded 1‑acre pool deck serving hotel guests and residents, luxury cabanas, private event spaces, indoor‑outdoor dining areas and the best views of downtown.

This entry‑level Cook position requires good communication and basic culinary skills. The desired candidate will have some professional cooking experience, knowledge of cooking ingredients, and procedures. We are looking for someone with the flexibility to work any day of the week including weekends and holidays.

• Refined verbal communication skills
• Candidate should be able to perform basic cooking skills
• A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to move quickly and adjust as business dictates
• Texas Food Handlers Certification
• At least 2 years of experience with working in all restaurant and hotel kitchens
• Hotel cooking experience and/or culinary degree preferred
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Requires moderate supervision and training
