General Merchandise and Food Sales

The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise setup and maintenance, and pricing processes for all areas of the store. They enable efficient delivery to guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

• Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
• Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
• Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks
• Engage with guests to assist with their needs and solve issues
• Thank guests and acknowledge their decision to shop at Target
• Perform daily tasks as directed by leadership to achieve goals aligned with business priorities (receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and placing promotional signs for GM areas)
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures
• Execute processes including price changes, merchandise setup and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed
• Learn how procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability
• Be knowledgeable about resources, products, and services available in the store to solve guest issues and improve their experience
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely and report hazards
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders) while adhering to applicable laws
• All other duties based on business needs

Physical and Work Environment

• Ability to handle cash register operations as needed
• Climb ladders as required
• Scan, handle and move merchandise safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds without assistance
• Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions while performing duties
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a shift
