, you'll help guests celebrate the season by providing outstanding service, sharing product recommendations, and creating a welcoming environment that reflects the warmth and hospitality of Bayou Bend.   • Greet guests and docents, provide information regarding hours and admission prices, provide information regarding the Shop
  • Provide information, instruction, and access to Christmas Village, including handouts, verbal instructions, and other guidance as needed
  • Assist with ease of entrance during high-traffic days
  • Utilize the Museum's shop software by:
  • Opening and closing purchase terminals.
  • Selling shop items
  • Reconciling daily sales with manager on duty
  • Fulfill routine functions, including distributing materials and maintaining signs
  • Function as ushers at gazebo entrance
  • Work with other Museum staff in a collaborative team environment
  • Restock, assist in merchandising and display, and cleaning and straightening of shelves
  • Increase shop sales through product knowledge, instigating customer contact and rapport, using selling techniques to motivate larger total dollar sales, and insuring customer's satisfaction and return
  • Other tasks determined by supervisor

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Must have excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Computer and cash-handling experience required
  • Demonstrated experience and comfort in retail or hospitality
  • Enthusiastic desire to be part of a leading cultural organization
  • Able to maintain a professional demeanor and effectively and tactfully deal with guest complaints and concerns if they arise
  • Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift and carry up to 25 lbs. (in tandem).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Naturally upbeat
  • Appreciation for the holidays
  • Fluency in more than one language a plus, preferably Spanish
  • Commitment to providing a welcoming and festive holiday experience for all
