Responsibilities
Responsible for business development, relationship management and client experience of companies with annual gross sales of at least $2 million and generally less than $10 million. Act as a trusted advisor, collaborating with product partners to understand each client’s holistic business needs and develop solutions that drive revenue growth through loans, deposits, treasury management, and other banking services.
- Prospect for new clients using referral sources, existing clients, financial centers and centers of influence.
- Collaborate with product partners (Affiliate‑Retail, WMA, TMO, Bancorp‑Vantiv, Paycor, etc.) to analyze, evaluate and develop a tailored relationship strategy for each client or prospect.
- Attend community and industry forums, conferences and meetings to broaden relationship networks, build referral sources and deepen knowledge of trends, practices, services and the competitive landscape.
- Effectively retain and grow long‑term profitable “Lead” client relationships.
- Cross‑sell all applicable Fifth Third products and services to an existing portfolio of business customers and their owners or senior management, positioning Fifth Third as the client’s lead or primary bank.
- Plan and conduct relationship strategy and review meetings with product partners.
- Coordinate all client‑facing activities, including credit support and collaboration with other product partners.
- Conduct thorough pre‑call planning, employ the One Bank Consultative Sales approach, and perform prompt post‑call follow‑up.
- Utilize the Bank’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for activity tracking, call reports and pipeline management.
- Partner with Portfolio Managers and Credit Officers on credit requests and adhere to established portfolio management guidelines.
- Achieve credit standards and metrics related to asset quality, credit administration, and RAROC.
- Monitor customer financial performance, condition and industry trends to ensure credit exposure is within acceptable risk and priced accordingly.
- Complete administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum three years of sales experience, with at least three years managing business banking or commercial relationships preferred.
- Formalized credit training or equivalent credit risk experience required; underwriting experience preferred.
- Proven ability to build new and existing client business and deliver a positive client experience.
- Strong business acumen, including detailed analysis of financial statements and knowledge of advanced accounting principles.
- Thorough knowledge of commercial and treasury management services as well as alternative lending and financing options.
- Ability to assess client needs, drivers of profitability and corporate/personal life cycle to optimize financial solutions.
- Effective problem‑solving and analytical skills with ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in face‑to‑face negotiations and group presentations.
- Ability to work in a team‑based sales environment and demonstrate leadership influence to promote high‑performing work groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with prospecting and CRM sales tools preferred.
- Regional or local travel required.
Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, temperature extremes, and extended screen time. Frequent travel may be required depending on assignment.
CompensationThe base salary for this position reflects the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the United States. Base salary will vary based on role, relevant skill set, experience, education, and geographic location. The role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan that is dependent on company, line of business and/or individual performance.
