Specialty Account Manager, Referral (SAM)
Responsible for representing Amgen’s Rare Disease products to primary care and specialty physicians, establishing biotech/infusion product sales, and increasing referrals to rheumatology and nephrology specialties.
Responsibilities- Represent Rare Disease products to primary care, podiatry, and orthopedic physicians.
- Establish biotech and infusion product sales and promote KRYSTEXXA within approved labeling.
- Increase patient referrals to rheumatology and nephrology for appropriate conditions.
- Manage a defined territory, developing a comprehensive business plan to meet annual sales goals.
- Collaborate with specialty account managers and cross‑functional teams to identify referral candidates.
- Promote disease‑state awareness and educate customers on patient identification and referral processes.
- Communicate progress and territory activity to sales and commercial leadership.
- Provide feedback on market trends and results to internal stakeholders.
- Adhere to Amgen’s compliance policies, PhRMA code, and other applicable guidelines.
- Complete required training and maintain accurate administrative records.
- Manage promotional budgets and utilize approved resources effectively.
- Attend medical congresses and society meetings as required.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities assigned by management.
- Basic:
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales experience in pharma, biotech, or medical device; or Associate degree and 6 years; or high school diploma and 8 years. - Preferred:
Experience with buy‑and‑bill, biologic/biotech sales, and reimbursement; established relationships in primary care, podiatry, and orthopedic markets; familiar with rheumatology and nephrology therapeutic areas. - Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and partner with commercial operations functions.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and computer skills.
- Approximately 30% travel, including overnight and weekend commitments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Professional, proactive demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
