Job Overview
A leading food wholesaler in Houston, TX, is seeking a dynamic, bilingual Assistant Sales Manager. This role is a blend of team leadership and direct sales, with a strong focus on people management. You will directly oversee a team of 10 to 12 sales representatives while managing key accounts within the grocery store and restaurant sectors.
- Location: Houston, TX (near IAH Airport)
- Job Type: Full-time
- Language Requirement: Fluent in English AND either Japanese or Mandarin Chinese OR Fluent in Japanese and Mandarin Chinese.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of 10 to 12 sales representatives.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing sales coaching.
- Oversee team sales targets and ensure regional KPIs are met.
- Coordinate daily schedules and territory assignments for the sales team.
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing grocery stores and restaurant clients.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities in the food service market.
- Handle high-level client inquiries and resolve complex account issues.
Travel Requirements
- Dallas: Mandatory 2- to 3-day trip once every two months for regional market visits.
- Los Angeles (LAX): Annual trip to attend the company’s mandatory national event.
- Other Travel: Occasional travel as needed to support clients and team members.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in B2B sales, preferably within the food, beverage, or wholesale industry.
- Management: Proven experience managing or leading a sales team of 5+ people.
- Language: Professional fluency in English AND Japanese or Chinese (Mandarin).
- Skills: Excellent communication, strong negotiation, and proven leadership skills.
- Mobility: Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel according to the company schedule.
