Outside Sales Representative

We are looking for an Outside Sales Representative for a national commercial doors, frames, hardware, and security-solutions company in Houston, TX. This role will develop new commercial construction business, grow existing customer relationships, and expand the company’s Houston and Gulf Coast presence.

• Travel: Mainly local and regional

• Develop relationships with general contractors, developers, architects, owners, and end users
• Identify new project opportunities throughout Houston and the Gulf Coast
• Visit customers and active jobs regularly
• Obtain plans and specifications for upcoming work
• Coordinate with estimators on takeoffs and proposals
• Review bids for accuracy before submission
• Follow up on bids and negotiate to secure projects
• Grow existing accounts while opening net-new business
• Partner with project managers, detailers, installation leadership, and branch leadership
• Identify service-contract and recurring-revenue opportunities

• At least 5 years of construction-related experience
• Commercial construction sales or business-development experience
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
• Experience developing customer relationships and new business
• Ability to work independently in a field-sales environment
• Current and valid U.S. driver’s license
• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to travel locally and regionally

• Doors, frames, and hardware experience
• Division 8 experience
• Houston or Texas commercial construction relationships
• General-contractor relationships
• Comsense experience
• Commercial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life-safety, or subcontractor sales background
• Experience with estimating, installation, and full project execution
• Sales mentoring or leadership experience

Compensation: Base salary $80,000 to $120,000. First year earnings total comp around $150k-$200k, however the commission is uncapped. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
