Position: Assistant Professor, Clinical Faculty Appointment (CFA) - Lymphoma-Myeloma

Overview

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma, is recruiting for a clinical research faculty member with a sub‑specialty of Multiple Myeloma. Physicians who have extensive research experience in clinical investigation and outcomes research with a particular focus in plasma cell dyscrasias such as amyloidosis, Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, MGUS, and especially stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies in high‑risk Multiple Myeloma are strongly encouraged to apply.

Faculty rank and space will be provided consistent with experience.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have actively engaged in research in cancer biology, with potential relevance to the biology of hematologic malignancies, and will undertake scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the department. The candidate will have protected time to lead and develop translational clinical research programs and scholarly activities in keeping with the goals of the department. They will seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support translational and clinical research, assist with mentoring young faculty, fellows, and other trainees, and contribute to the overall mission of the department.

Multiple opportunities for collaboration exist with other clinicians, scientists, and physician‑scientists within the institution.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold an M.D. (or M.D. and Ph.D.) with demonstrated ability to practice medicine, particularly in oncology. They must be eligible for American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) certification in their primary specialty, board eligible for sub‑specialty certification, and license eligible in the State of Texas. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience post‑degree in any combination of time as a clinician, clinical scientist, or GME trainee (excluding specialties with shorter residencies or fellowships).

They must demonstrate commitment to scholarly activity, proof of scientific accomplishments, excellent writing and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding for translational research.
