The Dan L Duncan Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) provides a learning environment at Baylor College of Medicine that integrates data from diverse domains including the electronic medical record, geospatial and social information, and next generation technologies to support research, development, and implementation of new approaches to patient care. The ICTR is currently seeking a Senior Research Administration Associate- pre/post award to be a resource for the faculty, staff, and trainees, and is expected to be a subject matter expert on grant submissions and post award management.
Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work (4 days onsite each week) schedule after a training period of approximately three months.
Job DutiesPre Award
- Manage federal, state and industry grants, contracts & subcontract submissions internally and externally.
- Serve as point of contact between the Office of Research, sponsors, PIs, and collaborating institutions.
- Gather and create documents necessary for grant submission including budget, budget justification, other support, statement of work, etc. and communicate timelines to faculty to ensure applications are submitted timely to internal and external Sponsored Program Offices for review and approval.
- Review and approve grant application proposals for sections assigned in the College's electronic Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN).
- Ensure compliance with spending trends per sponsor guidelines.
- Make recommendations for process improvement to increase efficiency and implement changes.
- Attend workshops on research administration for continued education and contribute to the development and improvement of the pre-/post- award management process.
Post-Award
- Responsible for post-awards management with oversight from department leadership.
- Confirm cost/effort allocations are appropriately distributed.
- Generate monthly financial reports on restricted and unrestricted fund centers.
- Submit invoices to sponsors.
- Participate in the departments annual planning and budgeting process.
- Responsible for the day-to-day sponsored research activities for the unit.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Four years of relevant experience.
- Research administrative work experience in an academic research setting.
- Ability to display a professional, positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills and communication skills required and must be able to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
- Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, efficient, and strong organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in accepting work assignments with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks, understand processes, and resolve issues.
Work Authorization Requirement:
