About the Role:
SiSTEM is hiring experienced science tutors to work with motivated students and families in the greater Houston area. - Work one‑on‑one with students in grades K‑12 to provide focused science instruction at their level.
- Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding, not just memorize facts for the test.
- Build scientific reasoning, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Make abstract concepts concrete through clear explanations, real‑world connections, and structured practice.
- Identify and close gaps in foundational science knowledge that are holding students back.
- Align your sessions with each student's broader academic roadmap through SiSTEM's planning tools.
- Communicate with families on progress and strategy when appropriate.
- Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.
- 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience in science.
- Deep expertise in at least one of the science subjects listed above.
- Experience working with motivated students in honors, Pre‑AP, AP, gifted, or test‑prep settings.
- A track record of helping students improve grades, build confidence, or master concepts they previously struggled with.
- Clear, patient communication and the ability to make science click for students who think they're "not a science person".
- Professional reliability.
