R&D Lab Support Technician (Temporary)
The R&D Lab Support Technician (Temporary) supports CLIENT Tubular Products' Research & Development laboratory operations by performing hands-on support activities that enable efficient execution of mechanical and materials testing. This role focuses on sample preparation, test setup assistance, material handling, documentation support, and test changeovers to support ongoing R&D testing activities. The position works closely with R&D and laboratory technicians to ensure test readiness, maintain organized work areas, and support smooth laboratory workflows while upholding CLIENT core values of safety, environmental compliance, quality, and ethics.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare test samples by cleaning, labeling, staging, and organizing specimens prior to testing.
- Assist with test setup, teardown, and changeovers, including staging fixtures, tooling, and consumables.
- Safely move samples, fixtures, and equipment between preparation, testing, and storage areas.
- Support material handling and organization within the laboratory to ensure efficient test execution.
- Assist with basic documentation tasks, including organizing test paperwork and recording required test information as directed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment through housekeeping and proper storage of tools and materials.
- Perform basic equipment checks and visual inspections, reporting issues or abnormalities to technicians or supervisors.
- Follow established laboratory procedures, safety requirements, and environmental standards at all times.
- Provide general support to R&D and lab technicians as assigned to ensure efficient daily laboratory operations.
- Use of basic gages and measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, tape measures, or similar inspection tools) to measure and verify sample dimensions.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical coursework or laboratory experience preferred.
- Prior experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, industrial, or technical support environment is a plus.
- Ability to safely handle materials, tools, and test samples in an industrial laboratory setting.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools under supervision.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Windows applications and simple data entry or documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take direction from technicians and supervisors.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and move materials throughout the workday, consistent with laboratory operations.
