Position Overview

UTHealth Houston’s School of Dentistry is hiring a full‑time Research Assistant (RA) I or II. The role supports the NIH‑R56 grant project on craniofacial development, using mice, human cell lines, and ex vivo organ culture to study epithelial‑mesenchymal transition and facial symmetry. Responsibilities include maintaining the mouse colony, cultivating human cell lines, treating cells with reagents for gene expression or knockdown, and performing related laboratory experiments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory experiments under general supervision to support research objectives.
  • Collect, organize, and prepare research data; update notebooks, records, and databases as needed.
  • Maintain clean laboratory equipment and work areas for safety and efficiency.
  • Order laboratory supplies as directed by senior research staff.
  • Stay current on new protocols and maintain compliance with required training; participate in continuing education as required.
  • Coordinate technician work to ensure timely, high‑quality results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required (equivalents may be considered with additional experience).
  • No prior experience required; training provided.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 20 pounds occasionally or 10 pounds frequently.

This is a security‑sensitive position. Personnel must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
