Overview
Chevron is accepting online applications for entry‑level Earth Scientists for the 2026‑2027 recruiting season. Entry‑level Earth Scientists join multi‑disciplinary teams and undertake technical assignments in exploration, development, reservoir characterization, and well operations. They receive guidance from supervisors and technical mentors, and can work in domestic upstream operations, global exploration, or Chevron’s research‑focused Center of Excellence.
Responsibilities- Participate in technical assignments focused on exploration, development, reservoir characterization, and well operations.
- Utilize cutting‑edge digital technologies and techniques to solve challenging geoscience problems.
- Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, engineers, data scientists, and software developers.
- Engage in mobility opportunities across various assignments and locations.
- Students completing the last year of a Master’s or Doctorate thesis program or with less than 2 years post‑graduate experience in geology, geophysics, geological engineering, or related fields.
- Or individuals with a Master’s or Doctorate degree in geology, geophysics, geological engineering, or related fields.
- Professional/academic focus in a technical area aligned with Chevron’s business needs.
- Strong academic performance in core programs, communication, leadership, teamwork and problem‑solving skills.
- Position may require routine driving.
- Previous experience in an integrated oil or international service company intern program and/or prior experience with industry workflows for subsurface characterization.
- Participation in an energy industry or sponsored university research project.
- Practical experience with geoscience coding, data science, and/or machine learning.
- Experience with Chevron Oil, Products & Gas (OPG) technologies subject to U.S. export controls and trade sanctions.
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters. Mobility across assignments and locations is encouraged.

Regulatory Disclosure for U.S. PositionsThe compensation and reference to benefits for this role is listed in compliance with applicable law. The anticipated salary range is $108,000–$140,000 annually. Compensation is determined based on degree level and discipline for U.S. payroll offers. Chevron offers competitive compensation and benefits programs, including variable pay, health care coverage, retirement plan, protection coverage, time‑off, leave programs, training and development opportunities, and allowances for specific work situations.
