Geology Associate

This dynamic 100+ person firm is seeking a full-time geologist to join its Integrated Subsurface Team in Houston, TX and perform regional basin studies, provide geologic support to live projects and contribute to the expansion of the firm’s technical knowledge base.

TPH’s IST is a 10-person team within TPH’s investment banking division, and is composed of geologists, engineers, and technical professionals, all with relevant industry experience. The IST’s mandate is to have a rigorous understanding of the subsurface in order to work hand-in-hand with clients to create custom-tailored technical analyses. TPH IST bridges the gap between subsurface and financial valuation to maximize value for clients.

The IST works closely with TPH finance professionals in a fast-paced and team-driven environment to deliver top-quality investment banking advisory services on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), acquisitions and divestitures (A&D), capital solutions, and restructuring.

Responsibilities:

• Team:
  Work closely with engineers and financial professionals to develop comprehensive subsurface models, primarily for North American unconventional oil and gas plays
• Mapping:
  Geologic mapping from public and private data sources
• Petrophysics:
  Log analysis and mapping from core analysis to volumetrics
• Presentations:
  Creating content for and delivering data room presentations to buyers, pitches to prospective clients, and other presentations
• Data handling: QC and filter data for virtual datarooms, assist geotechs with maintaining several dynamic geoscientific databases

Requirements:

• 1 to 10 years of relevant E&P or investment banking experience
• Familiarity with Geo Graphix and/or Petra software packages is ideal, but will train on the job
• Experience with unconventional geologic analysis preferred, including log analysis, basin-level pay mapping, and horizontal geosteering basics.
  
  Incremental experience in domestic or international conventional plays is helpful but not required.
• Fulsome understanding of log interpretation, petrophysics, stratigraphy, and structural geology
