Entry-Level Geologist or Engineer

Brown and Caldwell is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Geologist or Engineer to support site investigation, remediation, environmental , and infrastructure projects. Working under close supervision and guidance, th e role will perform foundational technical tasks, assist with field investigations , data collection, and support the evaluation and reporting of soil, groundwater, surface water, and related environmental data. The position provides an opportunity to apply and develop fundamental skills in geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering, geochemistry, and related technical disciplines while contributing to solutions that protect the environment and produce results for clients .

role is tasked with basic foundational work in the fields of geology and hydrogeology. This role principally involves carrying out routine tasks, solving elementary problems, and learning and applying fundamental skills and knowledge in geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, and geophysics. The role is carried out under the close supervision and guidance of experienced colleagues and supervisors.

• Assist in field investigations, including water and soil sampling.
• Assist with basic well logging and field data collection tasks in a supervised setting.
• Help in the examination and interpretation of geological, hydrogeological, geophysical, and geochemical data.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures related to the role.
• Maintain and update data logs of all performed tasks.
• Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.

• Basic understanding of geology, hydrogeology, geophysics, and geochemistry.
• Proficiency in using sampling equipment.
• Basic analytical skills to interpret geological data and information.
• Basic proficiency in using software and tools associated with geological studies.

• Typically, a minimum of 0-2 years of related work experience in geology and hydrogeology or related field.
• Encouraged to certify in the SMS framework in the first six months of being in the role.

• A bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or related field, or equivalent experience is required.

• Self-starter who is highly organized, results-oriented, reliable, and able to work effectively with coworkers and subcontractors.
• Possesses good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability and willingness to perform outdoor fieldwork at various sites.
• Ability and willingness to travel 50–80%, including regional and national travel.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and demonstrable technical writing capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple tasks and competing priorities.
• Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, as needed, which may include an air-purifying respirator, fire-retardant clothing, hard hat, safety boots or other approved foot protection, and safety glasses..
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Geology candidates should be motivated to obtain Geologist-in-Training certification and pursue Professional Geologist licensure within 3–5 years.
• Engineering candidates should be motivated to obtain Engineer-in-Training certification and pursue Professional Engineer licensure within 4–6 years.
