Campus Security

Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Campus Security to begin immediately. The Campus Security position will coordinate with the Security Director, Facilities Manager, and the Dean of Students to provide a safe and secure environment for students, visitors, and employees by protecting and securing the campus, preventing or deterring crime, enforcing the campus security plan, and enforcing state and local laws.

This is a full-time, 12 month position and reports to the Security Director.

• 2+ years experience working in a similar position for a school, large complex employer, military, and/or law enforcement experience. The campus security officer is non-commissioned or commissioned if eligible.
• Must be organized, able to set priorities, meet deadlines, multi-task and be a self-starter.
• Demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
• Strongly prefer successful experience in supervision or safety planning, and work in a fluid, dynamic, environment.
• Proficient in basic technology applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel). Google Apps knowledge is necessary (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively utilizing interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with all school constituents.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations in which only limited standardization exists. Think on your feet.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• High regard for confidentiality.
• Adhere and support the policies and procedures of Houston Christian.
• Committed to the mission and values of Houston Christian High School.
• Contribution to the life of the school outside of regular duties is expected.
• Represent the school in a positive light and be a strong spokesperson for the school.
• This position will be subject to background checks, physicals and random drug screenings.
• Qualified candidates must have security and safety experience and expertise and be able to build rapport with students, visitors and employees while maintaining professionalism.
• Occasional after school, evening or weekend hours will be necessary.
