Job Summary
Position responsible for assisting with the protecting, securing and promoting safety and security at a Memorial Hermann Hospital campus.
Qualifications and Requirements- Education:
High School Diploma or GED. - License/Certification:
Certified Healthcare Basic Security Officer by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (must obtain certification within six months of hire if not already certified). - License/Certification:
Commissioned Security Officer licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau (must obtain license within 90 days of hire if not already licensed). - Driver’s License:
Must possess a valid driver’s license. If from out of state, must obtain a Texas driver’s license within 90 days of employment. - CPR/First Aid:
Must be certified in Heartsaver® CPR or Heartcode BLS CPR by the American Heart Association (must obtain certification within 90 days of hire if not already certified). - Age:
Must be at least 21 years old. - Language:
Must understand and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. - Computer Proficiency:
Must be proficient in the use of computers.
- Monitor assigned areas to maintain maximum security presence.
- Post in assigned areas, conduct patrols on foot, or in a vehicle.
- Ensure security of all designated areas and access points, and control vehicular access to buildings and parking areas.
- Identify and report fire and safety hazards, suspicious activities, or breaches of security.
- Control access to areas and materials by administering and enforcing building visitor and materials pass programs.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of hospital, building management, and departmental policies and procedures; post orders and comply with job requirements at all times.
- Respond to all security and emergency situations as dispatched or assigned, assisting patients, visitors, and staff with questions, escorts, directions, and vehicle assistance.
- Complete and submit required security reports and activity logs within the assigned shift.
- Operate and care for security equipment properly; maintain knowledge of the location and operation of emergency systems and equipment.
- Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
- Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; support department-based goals that contribute to the success of the organization.
- Serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
- Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of the community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.
- Model Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
