Overview
The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD
, known as "The HARRIS CENTER," is seeking an experienced Security Lead to join our team. The Security Lead is responsible for overseeing daily safety and security operations at the 419 Emancipation site. This position provides on-site leadership to Security Associates by coordinating schedules, assigning daily responsibilities, and ensuring consistent coverage across shifts. In addition to performing standard safety and security duties, the Security Lead supports emergency response, conducts facility safety checks, and serves as the primary point of contact for day-to-day security operations.
This role ensures adherence to safety protocols, promotes a secure environment, and supports staff, individuals served, and visitors.
- Security & Safety Operations
- Perform safety and security patrols, including interior and exterior inspections of facilities, grounds, and parking areas.
- Respond to non-police emergency calls, including alarms, medical incidents, hazardous situations, and traffic control.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, including fire equipment, locks, alarms, and hazard identification.
- Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are followed to maintain site security.
- Reporting & Compliance
- Review and ensure completion of incident reports, safety inspections, and required documentation.
- Monitor and report suspicious activity and security concerns.
- Maintain logs, vendor records, and compliance documentation as required.
- Customer Service & Engagement
- Engage with staff, individuals served, and visitors to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
- Assist with conflict resolution and de-escalation when situations arise.
- Provide directions, assistance, and escort services as needed.
- Operational Support
- Coordinate communication using two-way radios and other systems across the site.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance safety and security operations.
- Perform all duties of a Safety and Security Associate as needed to support operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education
- High School Diploma or General Education diploma
- Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of security or safety experience (healthcare or similar environment preferred)
- Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred
- Customer service experience required
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Other Key Qualifications
- Current Security License
- Leadership-related certifications preferred
- Texas DPS Non-Commissioned Security Officer License preferred
- Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities- Ability to lead and coordinate staff effectively
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy with diverse populations
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills
- Ability to handle high-volume, fast-paced environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related systems
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally across all levels
