DescriptionReporting to the AVP of Intellectual Property and Industrial Engagement and in support of the mission of the UH Office of Technology Transfer and Innovation (OTTI), this position is responsible for the marketing and licensing of UH's portfolio of intellectual property (IP) and overseeing the license portfolio and licensee compliance. Primarily responsible for identifying potential licensees and securing license agreements through marketing and outreach efforts.
Through external stakeholder, market research and engagement of faculty inventors, develops and executes marketing plan for UH patents. Works with OTTI staff responsible for IP management and technology commercialization to capture value in UH IP. Directs the compliance to ensure efficient workflow and interactions with the UH research and technology enterprise.
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Preferred:
Additional education includes MBA in Marketing or JD degree (with passage of USPTO bar exam) are not required but would be a bonus.
Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience. Preferred:
Minimum of ten (10) years with at least 2-4 years specializing in technology licensing and marketing.
