Responsible for patrolling, protecting, and securing all Harris Health System's buildings and grounds, promoting safety and security at all locations. Responds to all crisis intervention team activations, prevents patient elopements, and assists medical staff with restraint of patients as requested.

• Serve as assigned Milieu Officer in designated hospital areas.
• Maintain a continuously high level of awareness in the milieu to react promptly and effectively to emergencies.
• Use visual acuity to detect suspicious activities.
• Physically intervene in medical and behavioral emergencies.
• Prepare for exposure to risk of physical injury by assaultive patients.

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• TCOLE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement) Basic Peace Officer Certification or TPSB (Texas Private Security Bureau) Level III Certification required at point of hire.
• CPR training within six months of employment.
• IAHSS Basic Security Officer Training Program within six months of employment.
• Aggression Management within six months of employment.
• Registered by the Texas Private Security Bureau within 90 days of employment.

• TPSB Level IV Certification.

• Three (3) years in security, criminal justice, military, or healthcare, or a combination of the above.
• Five (5) years healthcare security or behavioral health experience preferred.

• Above Average Verbal skills (Heavy Public Contact).
• Writing/Reports.

• P.C. Typing: 20-29 wpm.
• MS Word.

• Weekends.

• E-1 availability during disaster situations.
• Must be able to understand English language and communicate it effectively in both verbal and written form.
• Proficiency in the use of computers is required.
• Supervises shift activities in the absence of the security supervisor.
