Primary PurposeTo maintain district facilities and sites in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use is available at all times.
QualificationsEducation/Certification:
- High school graduate or GED equivalency preferred
- Valid Class C Texas driver’s license (as needed for specific area) with a safe driving record to pass a DMV check
- Possess appropriate license(s) and/or certification(s) as required by any local, state, and/or federal regulatory agency
- Texas Journeyman electrical license required
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge in primary maintenance trade of electrical
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and able to adjust daily routine
- Possess skills required to meet performance responsibilities
- Able to use all tools and equipment
- Knowledge of safety requirements for maintenance services of buildings, equipment, and grounds
- Ability to work in exposure to all weather conditions
Experience:
- Experienced in skilled applications in electrical
Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Operations
- Assume responsibility to make skilled repairs of any nature in facilities and sites owned by the district.
- Perform skilled repair and/or new work as requested on approved work order request.
- Receive and complete work orders in a timely manner. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
- Recognizes when assistance is needed to solve problems.
- Examine district owned facilities owned by the district on a regular basis for purposes of preventative maintenance.
- Comply with working guidelines of the department.
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
- Take all safety precautions related to all trades and report any hazardous situations.
- Remove and/or advise foreman of any hazardous situations noticed while working on school grounds and sites.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow safety guidelines as listed in the Maintenance Services Department safety manual.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the foreman.
- Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding equipment and facilities.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to make sure equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Implement and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for tools and equipment.
- Ensure that vehicles and equipment are in safe operating condition and notify foreman if not.
- Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
