Description
MISTRAS Group, Inc. is seeking Spring Can Team Technicians. A Spring Can Team ensures piping systems remain properly supported and flexible during operation and thermal expansion. Can reside anywhere in the US. Be open to travel.
A Spring Can Team is typically a group of skilled industrial or maintenance technicians who specialize in servicing spring cans — mechanical devices used in industrial piping systems to support pipes while allowing for vertical movement caused by temperature changes.
These teams are common in refineries, power plants, chemical plants, and industrial shutdowns/turnarounds
, where spring cans must be inspected, repaired, adjusted, or replaced to keep piping systems safe and compliant.
- Install, remove, and inspect spring cans and variable/constant pipe supports
- Perform load testing, travel verification, and adjustments per specifications
- Read and interpret drawings, isometrics, and support details
- Document inspections, measurements, and repairs
- Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in industrial environments
- Use hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices accurately
- Coordinate with project supervisors, engineers, and other trades
- High school diploma or GED required
- Mechanical, industrial maintenance, millwright, or piping experience preferred
- Ability to read technical drawings and follow procedures
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Comfortable working in physically demanding environments
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights
- Stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces
