Fire Alarm Systems Service Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our Smart Buildings. You will service and maintain commercial fire alarm systems, ensuring components are inspected, tested, operated, and maintained according to customer operational requirements. In addition to primary responsibilities, you will mentor and provide on‑the‑job training to less experienced technicians, fostering growth and knowledge-sharing within our team.
You will be the face of Siemens, and your expertise and regular interaction with customers will help keep their buildings and inhabitants safe.
- Execute comprehensive testing and inspections for systems under maintenance agreements
- Create detailed test and inspection reports based on code requirements and customer needs
- Swiftly respond to, troubleshoot, and complete necessary repairs to maintain system functionality; report activities completed, deferred, or requiring further action or material
- Code compliance: identify code and non‑conformance issues, ensuring adherence to required standards
- Quote small repair jobs and provide detailed parts and labor requirements to estimators and sales for large repair projects
- Plan work with mentors, Lead Technicians, and Supervisors to strategize tasks effectively
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience in the installation and/or maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems
- For Mid level - 1+ year of experience
- Must be able and willing to differentiate types/colors of wire, use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet, carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
- NICET Fire Alarm Certification
- For Entry Level - Must obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level 1 within 18 months
- For Mid level - Must obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level 2 within 12 months
- Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED;
Associate degree in electronics or related field preferred - Experience in the installation and/or maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems
- For Entry Level: 6+ months
- For Mid Level: 3+ years
- Ability to read/understand design and construction documents
