Position

Summary

The Dent, Ding & Rock Chip Specialist is responsible for performing high‑quality cosmetic repairs to customer and inventory vehicles
, including paintless dent repair (PDR), ding removal, minor body panel corrections, and windshield rock chip repair. This role plays a key part in maintaining the appearance and value of Subaru vehicles, contributing to CSI/NPS scores, and supporting the dealership’s Service and Reconditioning Departments.

Key Responsibilities Dent & Ding Repair
  • Perform Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) on customer vehicles and inventory units, including door dings, small dents, creases, and hail damage.
  • Evaluate damage type and severity to determine proper repair approach.
  • Restore body panels to factory condition without paintwork whenever possible.
  • Use dealership‑approved tools, lighting systems, glue pulling equipment, and PDR techniques.
  • Meet Team Gillman quality standards for cosmetic refinishing.
Rock Chip & Glass Repair
  • Perform windshield rock chip and minor crack repairs using approved resin injection systems.
  • Assess whether glass is repairable or requires replacement and communicate recommendations to Service Advisors.
  • Ensure all repairs restore strength and minimize chip visibility to Team Gillman standards.
Customer Service & Communication
  • Work collaboratively with Service Advisors, Technicians, and Management to ensure efficient repair flow.
  • Clearly communicate repair results, limitations, and recommendations.
  • Assist in estimating cosmetic repairs for both customer pay and internal service vehicles.
  • Help maintain strong CSI/NPS scores by providing exceptional service.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Follow OEM repair guidelines and all Team Gillman safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with dealership standards.
  • Ensure repairs meet or exceed internal quality benchmarks before vehicle delivery.
  • Properly handle chemicals, heat tools, and glass repair equipment.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Complete accurate repair documentation, work orders, and internal notes.
  • Provide before‑and‑after photos when required by management.
  • Report additional damage or needed cosmetic work to the appropriate Service Advisor or Manager.
  • Log parts, supplies, and materials used on each repair.
Tools, Equipment & Maintenance
  • Properly maintain and calibrate PDR tools, glue pull systems, and glass repair equipment.
  • Communicate supply needs or tool replacements to management.
  • Ensure all equipment is used in accordance with dealership safety practices.
Team Collaboration
  • Coordinate with the Service Drive, Detail Department, and Reconditioning Team to support workflow efficiency.
  • Assist with internal reconditioning of pre‑owned inventory when needed.
  • Uphold Team Gillman’s values of teamwork, integrity, and customer‑first service.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience with Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) required or highly preferred.
  • Experience in windshield rock chip repair preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent high‑quality craftsmanship.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced dealership environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and reach during extended repair procedures.
  • Ability to lift 25–40 lbs. as needed.
  • Adequate vision and lighting interpretation for detailed repair work.
