Primary
Purpose:
Maintain the locks and hardware on all facilities in a condition which fosters a safe and secure environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent and technical school.
- Ability to cut and issue keys, re‑key, install and repair locks and hardware.
- Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair both mechanical locking and electronic access control devices.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Skill in utilizing building security and lock systems and procedures.
- Maintain inventory and good record keeping.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Minimum seven (7) years' experience required.
- Install, repair and maintain locks, exit devices, closers, file cabinets, chairs, casters and other hardware.
- Re‑key locks and cut keys to masters, sub‑masters, area masters, individual locks, etc., stamping with identification.
- Create master key schedule for new buildings and re‑key existing facilities using blueprints and hardware specification packages.
- Install and repair door hardware and hydraulic closing fixtures.
- Maintain records of work performed.
- Assist supervisor in coordinating proper hardware to comply with building codes and District master key systems.
- Assist foreman in obtaining hardware for the lock shop, carpenter shop, and planning/construction to comply with ADA, life safety, and fire codes.
- Perform inspections of new construction and renovations of facilities to ensure proper installation of hardware and compliance with ADA, life safety, and fire codes.
- Complete daily man‑hour logs and other required documentation, perform preventive maintenance, and work well in a crew environment. Maintain inventory and itemize costs on each job.
- Act as Project Lead when asked to do so and safely operate and maintain equipment.

- Work with frequent interruptions.
- Regular in‑person interaction with the public.

- Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder).
- Moderate lifting and carrying.
- Moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
