Job Summary

A Concrete Finisher is responsible for finishing concrete surfaces, such as floors, walls, sidewalks, and driveways. The position uses a variety of tools and techniques to ensure the concrete is smooth, level, and free of imperfections.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare the area before pouring concrete, including setting up forms and installing rebar.
  • Pour and spread the concrete evenly.
  • Use tools such as trowels, screeds, and floats to smooth and level the concrete.
  • Add texture or patterns if specified by contract.
  • Apply sealants or other coatings to protect the concrete and enhance its appearance.
  • Install anchor bolts, steel plates, and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete.
  • Repair and patch damaged or uneven concrete surfaces.
  • Operate equipment such as concrete saws or grinders to cut or shape the concrete.
  • Monitor the effects of weather on the curing process.
  • Comply with all safety requirements and participate in safety meetings.
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Review daily task assignments and clarify material needs with the supervisor.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
Supervisory Functions

No supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Basic understanding of concrete mixing and curing.
  • Knowledge of different types of concrete finishes and techniques.
  • Knowledge of hand‑held and power tools, including power vibrators, polishers, cutting saws, and edging tools.
  • All‑round knowledge of materials, terms, and practices in the construction field.
  • Experience with reading plans and understanding tasks at hand.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Professional verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works well in group problem‑solving situations.
  • Ability to actively listen and follow instructions.
  • Work productively under pressure and pay close attention to project details.
  • Strong self‑motivation and work ethic; ability to work with or without direct supervision.
  • Accurately and thoroughly perform work tasks.
  • Adapt to change in the workplace.
  • Identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous construction field experience.
  • Previous concrete finish experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screening.
Working Environment

Fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment requiring efficient performance. Work is performed outside. Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes and occasional overtime may be necessary.
