We are seeking a skilled and dependable Equipment Operator to safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery in support of daily job site activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, and other machinery to complete tasks according to project specifications and timelines. This role requires a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with crew members and supervisors.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy construction equipment such as excavators, skid steers, backhoes, loaders, and graders to perform tasks like grading, trenching, digging, and site preparation
- Conduct daily pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently
- Follow all safety procedures, including OSHA regulations, to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and spotters to coordinate movements and avoid hazards
- Monitor site conditions (soil type, weather, terrain) and adjust equipment operation accordingly
- Load, transport, and unload materials safely and efficiently
- Assist with general construction tasks when equipment operation is not required
- Maintain awareness of underground utilities, overhead hazards, and other site risks
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment
- Valid driver’s license (CDL may be required for certain roles or equipment)
- Ability to pass a drug screening and background check
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials, climb in and out of equipment, and work long hours on-site
- Effective communication skills to work with supervisors, crew members, and spotters
- Ability to work in fast-paced, physically demanding environments and in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and prevent costly mistakes
- Solid understanding of construction site safety practices and hazard awareness
