Position: Journeyman / Master Electrician

Ideal candidate will have a current Journeyman or Master Electrician license and a Texas Drivers License Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles.

The salary range is $69,000 - $86,000 - $103,500.

The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7am-3:30pm.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Electrician position is to provide skilled electrical work of the journeyman level in installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment. This position impacts the entire Institution's electrical functionality. Responsible for carrying out skilled tasks in accordance with standard practices of the trade and Institutional specifications. Oversee the quality and production of all electrical work.

ESSENTIAL

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Interprets and works from instructions, blueprints, sketches and diagrams in the installation of electrical systems.
  • Estimates cost of work and may order materials and maintain inventory.
  • Performs a variety of electrical work.
  • May coordinate the workflow of technicians and mechanics.
  • Investigates outages.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
  • Design, draw/illustrate and install complete normal and emergency electrical power systems.
  • Maintain and repair normal and emergency power electrical systems.
  • Prepare purchase requisition/stock issue forms to acquire parts and materials (required to install or repair electrical circuits and equipment) utilizing the O&M Warehouse or when necessary from outside vendors/suppliers.
  • Runs conduits, pulls wires, and installs circuits for electrically driven units.
  • Performs preventive maintenance of all electrical panels, transformers, motor control center, and emergency generators.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs a wide variety and large volume of electrical motors, generators, and fans.
  • Procure, build and install the following electrical equipment: different types of light fixtures, MCC, emergency generators, switchboards, electrical circuit panels, fire alarm panels and BAS control panels.
  • Performs a variety of electrical work incidental to the installation of air conditioning, refrigeration, and various medical and laboratory equipment and other processes working in collaboration with other trade technicians.
  • Provide customers with material cost and labor estimates for installing electrical circuits and components.
  • Respond to customer service requests.
  • Provide back‑up support for the other crafts (refrigeration, plumbing, and general maintenance).
